Discovering a Forgotten Island

My process into of investigating the notion of segregated landmasses, islands and its subsequent surrounding physical and social context brought me to Johnston Atoll; An isolated land formerly used by the U.S Military for Naval refueling, an aircraft base and Nuclear and Biological Testing, among other activities.

Today, it remains remotely abandoned and left for restricted for fish and wildlife habitats and monitoring.

I used this setting to begin evoking ideas and conditions of an isolated society and how we could re-image the architecture with the given resources.
